Nursing Oncology

Aims and Objectives

To improve oncology nursing training and education in Africa through inter –regional / international collaborative research

  • To bring together Nurses in cancer care in Africa to discuss issues in relation to oncology nursing as a specialty and the availability of training and education in various regions
  • To ascertain the training needs /educational needs of Nurses in Africa
  • To help share best practices in oncology Nursing
  • Increase Networking among Oncology Nurses
  • To provide up-to-date nursing advice, counsel and co-ordinate research planning that relates to prevention, early detection and cure of cancer;
  • To organize nursing symposia, workshops, meetings and conferences in keeping with objectives;
    • To assist in the formation of cancer nursing research programs that are relevant in Africa;
    • To facilitate African nurses’ participation in international research collaboration in African setting;
    • To arrange periodic lectures by distinguished nursing scholars in oncology; both local and international;
    • To collaborate with existing organizations interested in neoplastic diseases and facilitate the implementation of relevant and appropriate nursing research on cancer;
  • To establish or assist in the setting up of publication of monographs and books in oncology for the dissemination of nursing research work on cancer in Africa;
  • To identify training hubs within Africa to help facilitate the training of oncology Nurses
