AORTIC is proud to provide a biennial conference. We look back on a consistent track record of doing so since the organisation was established in the 1980s, even managing to convene virtually during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Our conference is a unique platform to bring together leading African and international health care professionals in cancer care, advocates, leaders in Government, and various members of the international health industry and global cancer community to meet and discuss cancer-related matters and proffer solutions to significantly reduce the impact of cancer in Africa and indeed around the world.
The conferences aim to convene the cancer community towards impact on cancer in Africa by sharing African research and best practices as well as creating an environment for strengthening collaboration and building partnerships for action at national, regional and international levels.
AORTIC 2027
We look forward to welcoming you to the 16th AORTIC International Conference on Cancer in Africa, from 6-9 November 2027, in Kenya. We are working with our local organising committee and more details will be provided soon.
AORTIC 2025
Hammamet, Tunisia
The 15th AORTIC International Conference on Cancer in Africa took place in North Africa in the city of Hammamet, Tunisia, from 2-5 November 2025, with the theme, “Advancing Cancer Care Across Africa: Equity Through Empowering Research & Education. Harnessing African Partnership to Drive Quality of Cancer Care and Patient Outcomes”.

AORTIC 2023
The 14th AORTIC International Conference on Cancer in Africa took place in Dakar from 2 to 6 November 2023, bringing together multidisciplinary specialists from the global cancer community to reduce the impact of cancer in Africa.

Hosting the biennial AORTIC conference
The AORTIC conference location in two years time is announced at the time of the current conference. Future conferences are selected using a bidding process.
A call for expressions of interest to host the conference will be announced to all AORTIC members.
Eligibility
Expressions of interest to host the AORTIC conference are welcomed by the AORTIC Council from any individual member in good standing, along with:
· A letter of support from the CEO or Executive Director of the organisation backing the bid, indicating institutional commitment.
· A letter of support from the proposed tourism office or convention bureau detailing the destination’s capacity in hosting an event of such calibre.
Please reach out to the secretariat [ADD email contact]. Further details and criteria for the full bid can be found in the bidding manual. The key criteria are shaped around domains:
· The proposed host city has not recently hosted an AORTIC conference [ADD link to archive of conferences]
· A provisional local organising committee (LOC) is named.
· The provisional dates of the meeting avoid a conflict with other major cancer meetings and recognised religious holidays.
· Accommodation for delegates is available across the price range.
· The infrastructure for a conference of 1000-1500 delegates exists.
· The conference centre is easily accessible from the accommodation (preferably an easy walk).
· The city is accessible easily and frequently by air/ground transport.
· The likely cost of attendance at the Congress is acceptable to potential delegates.
Geographic Rotation
AORTIC endeavours to host the conference in all of the different sub-regions of Africa over the period of a few years. There is however, no strict rotation.

The next call for expressions of interest is for the AORTIC conference planned to take place in November 2029.
