Develop a framework for continuous advocacy which consolidates AORTIC positioning as the leading African cancer organization and voice on the policy stage.
Establish a foundational plan that will create a clear space and role for African civil society organisations under the umbrella of AORTIC, engage across special interest groups and generate outputs that will galvanise membership engagement, building towards clear advocacy positions to be shared at a 2027 policy summit (convened alone or in partnership).

Why VOICE? Across Africa, too many women face delays or denials in accessing cancer screening, treatment, and support. Policy gaps and under-resourced systems are key barriers. VOICE empowers advocates with tools, knowledge, and networks to drive policy change aligned with World Health Organization (WHO) breast and cervical cancer frameworks and National Cancer Control Plans (NCCPs). In a 2-phase plan we aim to build capacity of advocates to address these gaps and develop work plans for taking national action.
The African Oncogenetics Network (AON) was founded to ensure all Africans have access to life-saving cancer genetics care. AON is guided by a steering committee that includes representation from AORTIC.
A Hammamet Declaration [ADD LINK ONCE AVAILABLE] sets out the need and call to action. We welcome signatories to the Declaration and encourage you to join the network and support the further advocacy work shich is to follow.

Other SIGs active in this field [ADD LINKS]
The CCES SIG is working to ensure cancer control is recognized as a priority disease area to be included in the health response of countries and organizations operating in emergency situations in Africa, offering hope and a chance for a healthy life free from the combined burden of violence, climate change, natural hazards and disease.
The SIG aims to sensitize African leaders to the stark inequities among populations affected by conflict and other humanitarian crises in Africa due to the neglect of cancer control in these settings and promote closing the divide through inclusive, people – centered and context specific local, national, and regional capacity for cancer control among populations impacted by emergency situations.
