Young African Leaders in Oncology Special Interest Group

Goal

To empower and integrate the next generation of African oncology professionals by fostering research, leadership, collaboration, and mentorship within AORTIC, while promoting innovation and access to training and career development opportunities across the continent.

Aims

The aim of the 4-year YALO-SIG work plan is to build a strong network of young oncology professionals across Africa by promoting AORTIC membership and mentorship, research capacity, leadership development, and access to training opportunities, aligning with AORTIC’s broader mission and the work of the African Cancer Leaders Initiative.

Key Objectives

Foster Collaboration by leveraging the AORTIC membership portal to facilitate mentorship and networking among young AORTIC researchers, innovators and clinicians.
Build the membership of this special interest group in collaboration with ACLI fellows, identify priorities for young researchers and oncologists and co-develop a workplan that leverages communities of practice, webinars and the AORTIC conference and symposia.
Explore collaboration with other special interest groups.
