Pathology Special Interest Group

Goal

To promote high quality pathology practices in both cancer care and research and strengthen pathology and laboratory capacity in Africa.

Aims

Conduct a survey and mapping of current pathology practice and research in Africa as a foundation for a needs assessment to shape AORTIC activities in terms of research, education and training to improve cancer care in Africa.

Key Objectives

Develop a survey tool and promotional plan across all Africa sub-regions.
Leverage the AORTIC membership portal and community of practice to create a research network of African pathologists working in cancer control.
Building on the needs assessment, develop targeted training materials for pathologists and engagement plan including promotion of AORTIC membership, educational courses for pathologists on cancer diagnosis and management and regional conferences in partnership with pathology societies as well as leveraging AORTIC conferences.
