Radiation Oncology Special Interest Group

Goal

To advance education, research, practice, and advocacy of radiotherapy across Africa by promoting collaboration, capacity building, and equitable access to quality radiation oncology services.

Aims

To strengthen radiotherapy systems in Africa through knowledge-sharing, workforce development and retention, regional collaboration, and implementation of context-relevant practice updates.

Key Objectives

Build a collaborative platform for African radiation oncology professionals to share knowledge, resources, and expertise.
Develop and disseminate continued medical education opportunities and resources tailored to the African context.
Support training and mentorship programs to enhance the skills of radiation oncology teams across the continent.
Advocate for improved access to radiotherapy infrastructure and funding within national cancer control plans.
Facilitate research collaborations focused on LMIC-relevant radiation oncology challenges and innovations.
