Urology Special Interest Group

Goal

The goal of the Urology special interest group (URO-SIG) is to promote strategies to improve awareness, diagnosis, early detection and care of patients with urological cancers and encourage standardization of urological oncology education, training, clinical and pathology practices on the African continent.

Aims

The aim of the URO-SIG is to provide a central networking platform for urologists and oncologists across the African continent, fostering collaboration and promoting muti-disciplinary approaches to patient care.

Key Objectives

Develop AORTIC webinars and training series for bespoke continual medical education offers for AORTIC members for both early career and established urologists and urological oncologists, including patient-centric educational and awareness programs and muti-disciplinary approaches to patient care that involves clinical, psycho-oncological, and supportive structures.
Leverage the AORTIC membership portal to match urologists and urological oncology trainees and early career medical oncologists to mentors that can support continued education, skills development and taking next career steps.
Partner with the research committee and clinical trials SIG to develop a series of webinars that inspire urologists and urological oncologists to get conduct research including:▫ data collection, storage, and analyses toward promoting sharing and harmonization of urological oncology clinical practices and protocols in Africa ▫ Evidence-based research to improve screening and early diagnoses of Urological malignancies ▫ The application of genetics/genomics/omics to improve diagnosis and clinical management of patients.
