Andrew Odhiambo MD, FRCP, Medical Oncologist, The Nairobi Hospital, Kenya and AORTIC member

Just back from Best of ASCO Africa — the first in-person edition in Addis Ababa

I was on stage talking about something I’m genuinely passionate about: helping our colorectal cancer patients LIVE longer and BETTER. My role? Data discussant for metastatic CRC. Sounds fancy, right? Really, it’s me trying not to trip on stage while delivering the news that: Immunotherapy = no longer a buzzword… it’s a survival superpower.
Targeted therapy combos? BRAF mutant CRC, we’re coming for you!
And here’s the plot twist no one saw coming: exercise after chemo might give patients up to a 40% survival boost. Yes… EXERCISE! Your gym shoes may save lives.

I left Addis inspired, humbled, and determined to keep fighting for better outcomes. If you’re in oncology, GI or otherwise — how are you integrating these game-changers in your practice? Let’s swap ideas!
