Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is my greatest pleasure to extend a warm invitation to you, to attend our premier special virtual Genomics conference in Africa to be held on 18th and 19th of February 2021.

The conference theme is: “African genomic diversity: A roadmap to global equity in cancer control”. Our aim is to bring together experts on genomics throughout Africa and in the diaspora at large, encouraging discussion on genomics and how it relates to Africa in the context of current research and management of cancer.

The conference goals are to develop a network of scientists to lead genomic science in Africa, develop a road map for cancer genomics research agenda for Africa and constitute a special interest group on genomics in AORTIC.

The conference will feature an in-depth scientific program in genomics including an overview of cancer genomics, cancer genomics in Africa, ethics consideration and the proper management of genomic data as well as various topics on cancer genomics in application.

Renowned keynote speakers from Africa and the diaspora with a great deal of experience in genomics, will share their knowledge with participants of the conference. Although virtual, there will be an opportunity for networking and collaboration with senior and junior colleagues for mentorship in this unique field.

Partnership with journals for dissemination of conference proceedings and abstract publication are underway.

There will be much to learn from this premier conference which has exciting prospects for Africa and to pose an opportunity for international colleagues with interest in genomics in Africa including colleagues in the diaspora of African descent to collaborate.

We look forward to welcoming you on the 18th of February 2021. Kindly consider joining AORTIC and registering for the conference: Registration opens 1st January 2021

Dear Conference Delegates,

The AORTIC Research Committee is excited to welcome you to the AORTIC Cancer Genomics Special Conference!

With the charge to provide scientific leadership and direction for cancer research in Africa, one of the goals of the ARC is to foster the dissemination of African cancer research through scientific conferences, peer-reviewed journals, traditional media and social media. Our committee is proud to host the AORTIC Cancer Genomics Special Conference in an effort to enhance cancer genomics research in Africa. This is critical to finding genetic variants that are unique to African populations and thereby facilitate African population specific therapies and interventions for cancer prevention, care and control.

The core values of the ARC is reflected in this conference program, including: Afrocentric, Local context relevance, Innovation, Clinical relevance, Excellence, Culturally appropriate, Inclusiveness and Collaboration. We want this conference to be scientifically rewarding for you and look forward to hearing from you about your experience.
